Mission: This committee will sponsor a festival to celebrate the heritage of Gloucester County and the daffodil industry, to promote a positive image of the county to surrounding areas, to encourage tourism, to promote the beautification of the county, to provide a family atmosphere and to encourage involvement of civic organizations and individuals in the festival which will create a sense of community.
Volunteer Opportunities: Work on organization of the festival from August through April, day of festival volunteer, special projects, beautification, etc.
Approximate Annual Budget: $35,000-$40,000.

Mission: To provide assistance and supplies to disabled veterans, their families (others may qualify), and the community. Operates a food bank for the needy and assists veterans with claims to the VA.
Volunteer Opportunities: Help with ROTC, ball games, nursing home visitations, transportation, Forget-Me-Not Drive, and other special events.

The DAV Thrift Store located at 6899 Main Street in Gloucester is a member of the DAV Thrift Stores of Hampton Roads. Operating hours are M-S 9AM-8PM, Sun 12-5PM and can be reached by 804-694-3222. The store accepts drop-off donations and arrangements for pickup can be made by calling 757-877-0999.

Mission: The archaeological study of the Burwell plantation in Gloucester County, known both as Fairfield and Carter’s Creek. The Foundation has launched an extensive investigation of this colonial plantation to study, preserve and present this new knowledge to the public.
Volunteer Opportunities: Offered in all aspects of archaeology, including field and laboratory experiences. Weekly lab nights are held from 6-9PM at the Rosewell Visitor Center and occasional dig days are held approximately once every month. Assisting professional archaeologists in excavating, screening, and documenting “finds” then helping wash, sort and label the items. Other educational programs and lectures offered intermittently throughout the year.

Mission: A free, three-day per week morning group program for parents and their children to enhance the quality of life of all families with infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children residing in the Middle Peninsula.
Volunteer Opportunities: Participants give back to the program via their volunteerism and donations.
