Mission: To provide community improvements, especially in the Harcum area. PCL supports local efforts in research and town meetings to promote community awareness of the need for cleaner water for the Piankatank and the Bay; and other activities of community interest.
Volunteer Opportunities: Fundraising for local charities especially Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, Free Clinic, needy families at Thanksgiving and hosting dinners for the Gloucester Fire & Rescue volunteers. These have included spaghetti dinners, silent auctions, yard sales, raffles and a Father’s Day Fair.

Mission: A non-profit, no-kill animal sanctuary providing a home to companion animals that would not qualify as “adoptable” in other facilities. No animal is destroyed due to space, illness, temperament, emotional or behavior problem. Upon successful socialization, loving forever-homes are sought. Should the ideal home not be found, animals remain among other residents in a communal cage free setting for the remainder of their lives. Focus is dedicated to abused, neglected and abandoned animals,

Mission: A program of the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board to help each child reach his or her full potential. Services for children from birth to 3 years of age include pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy; case management; home visits by infant specialists; and family support services. Children served include those with health and learning problems, birth defects, developmental delays, vision or hearing impairments, and conditions such as prematurity that put them at risk for disabilities.
Volunteer Opportunities: Help with special events (children’s activities and transportation0; home visits (help with siblings); and support services (office work, fundraising, materials).
